Born in England, he grew up in Canada, joined the RCAF in World War Two, then went on to star in MORE than 500 commercials for a single product, becoming by the late 1978 the third most recognizable American after Billy Graham and Richard Nixon.
He was and remains a TV Icon ... and his plaintive "Don't squeeze the Charmin," remains a well known slogan. And the product her promoted is in use almost everywhere!
