Today, going through my mom's wallet, I discovered (amongst many things) her original Social Insurance Number card, her birth certificate, and some old photos ... Two are worth sharing.
The first is a picture of my brother Scott, taken when he was a year or so old ... it sat in Mom's wallet opposite a picture of Noahkila taken 30 years later when he was almost the same age ...
The second picture was tucked in behind some of her documents and i.d. ... there is no date, and no place written on the back ... but I was struck by the simple fact that 43 years after his death, Mom still carried a picture of her and Dad in her wallet ... the sweetness of the composition brought tears to my eyes:
