Okay - I just gotta ask ...

In spite of our Universal Health Care in Canada, there has been many complaints about the ability of the Health Care System to meet our health challenges, and concern has been raised over the length of waiting times for treatment and surgery. I've occasionally heard our Health Care System referred to as "Mickey Mouse Medicine ..."

This morning, I got an email from a friend who is currently vacationing in Florida. It seems that this weekend, her husband took sick and they had to rush him to the Hospital ... They took him to the Hospital in the midst of the planned Disney community of Celebration that is part of the Disney-Epcot resort in central Florida ...

Thankfully, he is on the road to recovery, and the bills will be covered by the Medical Insurance they took out before leaving Canada ... But as I read the email, I couldn't help but wonder:

Doesn't this take Mickey Mouse Medicine to a WHOLE new level ???

NO word on whether it was Dr Mickey, or Dr Goofy who saw to the patient ...

Sorry, Rev, but Celebration Hospital isn't part of Disney! It is an Orlando hospital run by spectacularly caring professionals who treated our family like gold... Thank you Dr Andrews and staff for making it the best possible of a bad situation! There wasn't a Mickey Mouse care giver in the building, I'm certain of it.
