Today in 1983, at the age of 33, Canadian singer, song writer Stan Rogers died in a tragic fire on an Air Canada flight in Cinncinnati Ohio ... his legacy of songs remains ... a couple of my favourite Stan songs follow: (The Mary Ellen Carter and Northwest Passage and OF COURSE - Barrett's Privateers !!)A song of hope and rebirth ... a song once voted the #1 choice for an alternate Canadian National Anthem ... and a song that many Canadians can sing along to with or WITHOUT beer !!! ... ah, how many of us have memories of impromtu late night choruses regaling all within hearing distance of the adventures of Barrett and his rogue privateers ??
