Today is Epiphany, the day the Church commerates
the arrival of the Magi in Bethlehem.
For many the Christmas story ends here
with a warm pink fuzzy feeling, but the story
doesn't end here with the mysterious visitors...
As they depart for home by another route,
King Herod demands the slaughter of the Innocents,
and the Holy Family become refugees.
Today in our modern world, that story gains
power when we consider how many
families live as refugees fleeing war and violence.
Today in the darkness of being far from home,
the refugees await the coming of the light ...
Light that WILL come.
