There are certain days that stand out in my life, some are good, and some are not so good - but all of them are indelibly etched in my heart and mind as momentous moments, among them:
The afternoon of my ordination to a ministry of Word, Sacrament and Pastoral Care ...
The day Nelson Mandela became President of a New South Africa ...
The births of my three children ...
The day the Challenger exploded on take off ...
The day my grandmother died ...
The day the Berlin Wall fell ...
The day the twin towers in New York fell ...
The days I was fired from ministry in the United Church of Canada ...
The day John Lennon died ...
The day I started my current job ...
The day Nelson Mandela stepped out of a jail cell into a long awaited freedom ...
The day M & I married ...
AND now today a new day joins that calendar ... The day Barack Obama was elected President of the United States of America !!!

Never-ending 'shroom season

Back to mushrooms. As long as it keeps on raining*, there will always be
more mushrooms.
*Flat-tops on a mossy log.*
*Mycena sp.? Sprinkled over the moss...

the day the Governement of Canada publicly apologized to the Firts Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples for the wrongs done to them
You can't believe the utter silence I experienced at church. Most likely 98 percent of the members in my church voted for McCain.
You can't believe the uplifted spirits of people in restaurants and on the streets. They are smiling and laughing and talking to each other. An Asian man talked with three Afro-American men who were sitting in the back of a truck at a stop light. They all celebrated right then and there.
We did indeed witness history. The tyranny of slavery has ended. Perhaps we can move on now.
It is a good day in America. We haven't had one in a long time. We have hope that Obama will restore our world wide reputation.
Obama cannot start soon enough.
Thanks for celebrating with us.
Indigo ... you reminded me of two other days that are forever etched in my mind:
- the day we arrived in Bella Coola
- the day you strolled in the back door of our house (without so much as a knock) and became both a friend and a member of the family with a flamboyant - "Hello Darlings, I'm here for lunch ..." and in time came "a boy in a box" at a Church rummage sale ... and a myriad of other delightful memories !!
and the memories and good times have been returned tenfold, brother. I am so happy in my heart that life is again more joyful for you and that you can see and remember gladly all the good things that transpired in the past 15 years of your journey. Better enjoy the ride because the destination may not be all the brochure cracked it up to be..
