Imagine a world where farmers get a minimum 25% of the consumer purchase price of a food product ... Imagine what a difference that could make to a grain farmer growing product for cereal, bread or bags of flour !!! ... Imagine the difference that could make to a fruit farmer growing bananas, apples, oranges or kiwis!! ... Imagine the difference if EVERYONE was paid a fair and just wage for their efforts !!!!!
The wondrous thing is that such a world is slowly being formed ... one cup of coffee at a time.
I've long touted Fair Trade Products, particularly coffee as the only option for those of us who enjoy coffee, tea and chocolate. The rewards to the producers and to their communities are phenomenal. Paying a fair return to the farmers makes their lives much easier ...
I have long advocated the purchase and consumption of Fair Trade products, and now my journey has been joined by the management and staff of Chipperfield Coffee Company in Minnedosa. Right now we are in the middle of a two week promotion of Fair Trade Products.
If you're in Minnedosa stop in and have a cup of the daily menu selection of Fair Trade coffee, and check out the print info that is available through out the store AND consider taking home a bag of coffee, or sugar ... You can enjoy a good cup of coffee and change the world at the same time !!!

I was at an organic coffee shop just outside of Ottawa last weekend, and had one of the best cups of coffee EVER (Fair Trade, of course). I'm positive that the personal satisfaction one gets from supporting something GOOD has a lot to do with this phenomenon...
