In a time when families were divided and brothers fought brothers,
one woman sought to bring peace and reconciliaton to her nation
by honouring the mothers who wept bitter tears at the
death and suffering of their sons.
The idea of Mother's Day was born amidst the carnage of
the battle fields of the US Civil was.
It was about love, peace, healing and reconciliation,
not flowers, cake, chocolate and cards ...
