Late Night Musings ...

The daily commute to work in Brandon, and some longish drives I've been making lately have lead me to follow the counsel of a wise friend, to purchase the audio book version of Eckhart Tolle's book "A New Earth" to listen to while behind the wheel ...

Tolle has some profound and yet, simple wisdom to offer about revisioning ourselves, our lives and our place in the cosmos by simply being open to whatever the cosmos has in store for us ... Today I read the following quotations:

... a glimpse of what is possible, a glimpse of what was already within ... In Zen such a glimpse is called "satori" - Satori is a moment of Presence, a brief stepping out of the voice in your head, the thought processes, and their reflection in the body as emotion. It is the arising of inner spaciousness where before there was the clutter of thought, and the turmoil of emotion ...

... to the ego, the present momet is, at best, only useful as a means to an end. It gets you to some future moment that is considered more important, even though the future never comes except as the present momentand is therefor never more that an a thought in your head. In other words: you are never fully here because you are always busy trying to get elsewhere.
.

It is about being a fully concious and awake human being ... and it is THAT simple: by becoming aware of the ego ... and living very much in the present moment rather than pining over the past, or getting worked up over the future ... It's about being clear and concise ... It's about living our lives conscious of what COULD be and WILL be if we take off the blinders and set ourselves free of our pettiness and ego ...

.

May you have a DAY FILLED with SATORI pauses !!!

May you find the moments to just STOP, and be present to THIS MOMENT!!

Thanks for this. It was something I needed today as I've bemoaned my life wondering, "This is it? This is to be my life?" It's been spent looking ahead, hoping there's something spectacular on the horizon. That's me, busy trying to get elsewhere when maybe this current moment holds within something spectacular.
