From Halifax to California ... a fond adieu ...

And then there was one ...
They were together for only three years.
They recorded 5 albums and 10 hit singles.
They sold over 20 MILLION albums.
Almost all of us know at least one song by The Mamas and the Papas.
First to go was Cass Elliot in 1974 at the age of 30.
Then John McKenzie went in 2001 at the age of 65.
And today the male voice of the group Denny Doherty has gone at 66 ...
John wrote the songs, but it was Denny and Cass who sang them...
and now, those voices have fallen silent ...
I had forgotten that Denny also entertained a whole new generation
of Canadian Kids through the 1990's when he starred as
The Harbourmaster in the Kids' Series Theodore Tugboat,
that was based and filmed in Halifax where Denny was born.
(It was a favourite with Noahkila when he was a pre-schooler)
Rest in Peace Denny ... and know that your songs and dreams linger.
... oh yeah - and thanks!!
