I'm not sure why, but today I miss her - ALOT.
.
It's been over four years since she died, and has been several years since I sat and had a cup of tea with her at her house in Waterloo and sought her counsel on life, the universe and everything ... BUT today, I wish I could for a moment I could just drive over there and sit in the living room one more time and talk to her about what is going on in my life ... and hear her say, "You know Shawn ..." with a smile and offer words of love, wisdom and challenge, all with a twinkle in her eye ...
.
Grandma NEVER failed me when she offered her advice ... She was my Grandma, but she was also a Friend ... and today I miss her for that ...

Reverend Shawn,
It's hard to miss a loved one...But as a friend once told me, "know that your loved one is in a better place, and they're always with you". When we're missing someone we love, someone we wish we could talk to, we have to draw on memories and feel their spirit in us. The next time you look up at a starry sky, know that one of those bright stars is your grandma looking back down at you, proud, and missing you too.
Thank you J.
Though I don't see Grandma as a star in the sky ... I do trust in the wisdom of the First Nations People who taught me that our departed ones are only as far away as our next breath and the wind on our cheeks ... I know she's never far, nor is my dad ... it would just be nice to see them face to face ... One day it will happen ... but hopefully not too soon.
peace,
shawn
