It's a kids book, but sometimes kids books are the best ones to search out to teach us something about the world around us ...
When Zaydeh Danced on Eldridge Street, is just such a book.
The main character, a little girl is staying with her grandparents when her mom and dad go to the hospital to welcome the arrival of her new little sibling. She doesn't enjoy her stay with her grandparent - Grandpa is TOO stern and too serious ...
But that night, she goes with her Grandfather to the Shul (temple) and something remarkable happens ... She witnesses a transformation that will never allow her to see her stern old Grandfather in quite the same way ...
The story is delightful. The illustrations are beautiful. And the message of what the generations have to teach each other is one worth hearing ... But most importantly for me is the description of God's Torah (the Commandments and teachings that bind the Jewish and Christian faiths together) as a gentle kiss from God ...
The best stories are those that entertain us as they teach us a lesson ... This book is one of the best ...

more mushrooms.
*Flat-tops on a mossy log.*
