With Thanksgiving (Canada's is earlier then our American cousins') coming this weekend I got thinking about ways in which we can make a difference in the world ... A good start is Fair Trade Products ... Coffee, Tea, Chocolate and so on is a start ... One day maybe our Prairie Grain Farmers will be able to market Fair Trade Bread and Cereal, and will no longer struggle simply to survive. But another way you and I and everyone on the internet could make a difference is a single click away ... Have you ever visited The Hunger Site??The Hunger Site is a place that if you click once a day, you will help make a donation of one cup of food to help address the issue of hunger in our world ... One cup doesn't sound like very much, but if every person who visits my site today (that's about 35 people) clicked on The Hunger Site EVERYDAY ... tonnes of food would be donated over a very short time ... It's kind of like that ancient trick played on a king with the chess board ... You know the one - the man asks to be paid one kernel of grain on the first square, then two kernels on the second, four on the third, then eight, then sixteen, then thirty two, then sixty four, then one hundred and twenty eight and so on ... and it is said that before you get to the end of the Chess board you will have MORE grain then has ever been produced in human history ... Today, celebrate Thanksgiving by clicking on The Hunger Site (click on the title of this entry and you'll be there), then visit the other associated sites and help a difference in the world ... You can do it ... all it takes is a minute or three ... and a couple of clicks of your mouse ... Then when you're done ... hope out and find other ways to make a difference and live out the bumper sticker below:
