Madness ... Simply Madness ...

I have to confess that the news from Nickel Mines Pennsylvania has deeply disturbed me ... The act of violence is bad enough ... but for it to be directed in such a horrific way against children, and Amish children no less is simply madness ...

How messed up do you have to be to burst into a school and line up children and execute them??

How messed up do you have to be to enact such a heinous act against AMISH people??

My mind continues to reel as the death count climbs ... the dead are CHILDREN ... the dead are girls ... the dead are members of a Christian sect known for simple lifestyles, pacificism and traditional values - they may not be embracing the modern world, and they are far from perfect, but there is NOTHING that can even remotely justify this utter madness ...

There is nothing that can justify anyone stepping into a school anywhere and opening fire ... Columbine, Taber, Douglas College and now in the last week a principal gunned down, female students in Colorado taken hostage and shot and now this ...

Today I weep ... I weep for the dead ... I weep for the communities wounded by this ... and I weep for a world that has somehow allowed these kind of incidents to become almost common place ... Today as I weep, I pray for an end to the madness ...

Sadly, violence has always been commonplace. I weep with you Reverend.

This was HORRIBLE. WHY must someone who is on a suicide mission, take INNOCENT people ( and CHILDREN )-with them???!!!!! That's where I BLAME the MEDIA!! I believe that these sick pick are getting FAR TOO MUCH ATTENTION & MEDIA COVERAGE!!! Let's report the news, but DON'T GLORIFY them by giving them 2, 3 days of coverage...I think thats why copy cat crimes are accuring, they "see" the attention they will get!!! (even if they're gone)

Hi, I first wanted to comment on bumper stickers - I have a picture of one you might enjoy. But I noticed you wrote on the trajedy in Pennsylvania. I am in Ohio right now but I am from Winnipeg. I read today that the man responsible was a local - he drove the milk truck. It makes a difference but at the same time it doesn't. Blaming the media is a pretty easy thing to do... but the Amish don't watch media like others... in the community in question, they don't even use e-mail at the local newspaper office.

Anyway it is sad. Also they will likely tear down the schoolhouse and build a new one to help forget...

That sticker I mentioned is at www.promo-plus.blogspot.com
it says "Fermez Le Bush"
I guess it helps if you know that in french shut-up is "fermez la bouche" so ya - that's on my blog about a Canadian in Ohio.

Take care Manitoba!
