As for your friend, take it from someone with a pretty good supply of self-worth, the road to self-discovery is hard for anyone. She'll need the desire to change and a big dose of courage and from what I know about her, she's not there yet and may never be.
Focus on yourself now, you'll be of greater service to your friends and to the world if you do.
