Another name will be added ...

During this weekend of Thanksgiving
we have before us a graphic reminder
that the freedom we enjoy is NOT free.
"A senseless act of violence ..."
is how the death of RCMP
Constable Christopher John Worden
is being described.
For his wife and infant daughter,
those words barely describe their grief.
Today we remember another
whose name will one day be etched on
the Canadian Police and Peace Officers Memorial
located in Ottawa ...
It was that same Memorial, where only a week ago,
they gathered to remember the fallen ...
Today that list has grown by one.
Constable Worden
and the other 739 who have given their lives in
service to our country remain
Our Heroes,
and we shall remember them !!

Today I just logged on and heard the man alleged of the murder has been apprehended. A sense of relief flooded over me halfway around the world. Working in the trenches , on the front line as a helth care provider in a very remote and rural area, "the lads" the RCMP members are our friends, our allies and our backup as we are theirs. I wept for the young family left behind. I wonder when the random acts of senseless violence will cease?
