Today over at "I Can Fly, Just Not Up", blogger CandyGirlFlies offers a timely reminder this Thanksgiving weekend to remember those neighbours among us who may not have the bounty of food we so easily take for granted. I had such a posting in the works, but like she has been oft able to do, Ms CGF has once again scooped me ... but - it's a scoop worth re-affirming:
In today's entry (click here to read it), CandyGirlFlies reminds and openly challenges ALL of us to make donations to our local Food Bank, or another related organization, to help those who need a hand up, not a hand out.
Her posting reminded me of many conversations I've had over the years with folks from other Food Banks, and from Samartian House Ministries in Brandon, that reminded me over and over that hunger is the one sector in our economy that has experienced unprecidented growth in recent years. Almost every village, town and city in Canada has some form of Food Bank operating today !!!!
So, in addition to making a donation to your local Food supplement group, consider popping over and clicking on The Hunger Site, to make a difference global. One click, will result in 1.1 cups of food put in the belly of someone for whom it may make the difference between life and death ... and it only takes you about 30 seconds ... Isn't it nice to know that you can make the difference in someone's life with only 30 seconds of your time EVERY DAY !!!
So, when you're done reading - Click Here, and make a difference !!!
