Today in Ottawa, once again a sea of red Serge and Blue-black uniforms will gather to honour one of "our own" ...
Today in Ottawa while they speak of a fallen hero, a young family weeps ...
In our Remembrance, in our outrage, in all that today's funeral represents, let us never lose sight of the simple fact that Constable Chris Worden was above all else a husband, a father, a son and a brother ... and when the media spot light moves on to other salacious stories, the grief and sorrow borne by that family will remain ...
Today I weep for a little girl who will follow a journey not unlike my own ... it's been almost 40 years and not a day goes by that I don't miss my Dad ... a dad that like Alexis' I never knew, but through the stories and memories of others ...
Today above all else ... remember her, and all of the children who are affected by the death of those who wear uniforms and who fall in the line of duty ... Ours is a heavy burden ...
For if we fail to remember them,
who will be left to remember but their families,
and we are ALL family.
They are Heroes in Life not Death ...
who will be left to remember but their families,
and we are ALL family.
They are Heroes in Life not Death ...
