I immediately called my RCMP corporal friend in Cape Dorset to offer my condolences. He knew Doug and one of his constables had just done a week's work with Doug in Kimmirut and he (Doug) had just come to CD to transfer a MH client less than a week ago. The RCMP member who was killed in Hay River just six weeks ago was known and very close to us here in Fort Resolution. The lads here at the local detachment had all worked with him. My fear now is that there is not going to be one RCMP wife or girlfriend/partner who will be willing to let HER/HIS Mounitie anywhere near north of sixty. My sorrow is for the Scott family and for the entire RCMP as a family and for every community of Nunavut and the Northwest Territories who are even now dealing with the blow this has thrown them. I weep.
