Today listening on CBC radio to the news of a 58 000 gallon oil spill in San Francisco Bay, fouling the beaches of San Fran and Oakland, while leaving thousands of sea birds covered in goo, turned my thoughts to the blogger Aerophant who is a resident of that area ...
No word on her blog yet of what's happening on the ground in and around her home turf ... no doubt she and her cast of characters are affected, simply by the devastation unleashed by the environmental impact - something we all should be concerned about ... but for now, CNN is providing coverage of the accident, the spill and the clean up ...
I can't help but think that such moments should cause us ALL to pause and consider the foot print we leave upon this planet ... and whether we are a malevolent presence, or a benevolent one ... I think it's hard to convince the birds, seals and other critters who have long called the bay home that humans are a benevolent neighbour right about now ...
