With the arrival of summer, and in anticipation of moving to Brandon this summer, our house has been cable-less for over a month now ... when the TV is on, we pop in a DVD or a video ... but I foolishly packed the bulk of our DVDs and videos in the storage locker a few weeks ago ... so, we've had to make do with the small selection I left behind ...
Tonight Noahkila and I popped in a DVD of The Red Skelton Show from the 1950's that I had picked up a couple of years ago in a clearance bin at Wal-Mart ...
We laughed like fools ... the antics of Red, Martha Rae, Vincent Price, Jackie Coogan, Richard Deacon, Jack Lemmon and Walt Disney who each made an appearance, and dozens of others offered a refreshing comedic break ... the humour was soft and naive, but had an edge that was funny without being hurtful ... watching Red and others fight to keep from cracking up on live television, or whe they just gave in and rolled with laughter was simply infectious ...
It was a good way to pass a couple of hours ...
I think I'll have to check out those clearance bins a little more closely from now on ... 5 bucks for 20 episodes of classic TV is money well spent ...
