Some Enchanted Evening ...

After supper tonight I hopped on my bike for a twilight ride out over the dam and around to the Ethanol Plant and back ... Along the way I had to pause to let three deer cross the road ... I've witnessed the outcome of a deer-motorized vehicle collision ... I opted NOT to become an "oddity in the news" item by testing the outcome of a deer-bicycle collision ...
.
I stopped and let them pass instead ...
.
It was a beautiful evening for a bike ride ... the moon was hanging in the southern sky, the sun was HUGE and red and lingering on the western horizon ... and the temperature was perfect ...
.
Later I went for a walk around our neighbourhood ... there was a profusion of stars visible ... the crickets were happily chirping ... and to the south I could hear the yapping and yowling of a pack of coyotes somewhere just outside of town ... As they talked back and forth to each other I just sat in the relative silence of the evening and listened to them ... it was simply beautiful ....
.
Hmmm ... made for a lovely evening ... an enchanted evening ...

Oh, life on the prairie! We can't see stars or deer in the city. Riding a bike is a matter of risking ones life.

Last week a cadre a police were all over our neighborhood looking for a criminal on the loose. My son was driving to church. On the way he was stopped by the police.....asked to get out of his car. They searched his car for the criminal.

My son didn't flinch.

I would have fainted.

Ahhh I'll dream about the simplicity of the prairie for a bit. Enjoy.
