Listening to on the MP3 ...

There may be a disconnect of sorts between a blog about life on the Prairies, and the choice of music I offer today ... Tiller's Folly is a folk band (for lack of a better category) who have over the last few years carved a name for themselves in the Lower Mainland of BC.

Their songs are about west coast life ... Their early albums have songs that extol the bravery, and perhaps the folly of the early missionaries, explorers and traders who opened the vast West Coast ... Their latest albums have highlighted the independent pioneer spirit that brought Vancouver and its vast sprawling suburbs into being ...

This summer when the kids and I visited Fort Langley National Historic site we ate lunch to the music of Tiller's Folly playing in the background ... It was lovely ... their cds are a standard when we're travelling ... and so, last week when I loaded the MP3 player with music for fall bike rides Tiller's Folly joined Great Big Sea, Bob Marley, The Who and Van Morrison ... They may not have the same prominence as the others, but Tiller's Folly know how to rock ... and that's what matters ...

My favourite song of theirs ??? - "Drinking Water at the Bar ..." It's just fun !!
